Top Ten Most Popular 3D Models on Thingiverse of 2018

We have been doing a lot of 3D printing here at SelfCad HQ and wanted to share what we think are Thingiverse's Top 10 Most Popular 3D Models since the start of 2018 (all are ready to be printed!)

"Hello, my version of baby Groot from the upcoming blockbuster movie "Guardians of the Galaxy 2".

The model resembles the baby groots appearance in the trailers of the movie.

I recommend using the high detail version to capture all the details I put on.

But if your slicer freezes/crashes, use low detail version, as the high detail version has several million polygons and requires more RAM/computing power to be sliced (i recommend using SelfCAD slicer). Last thing: The model may be rotated once imported. Don't forget it to rotate by 90 as in the photos. Happy printing."

"Pangolins now are facing critical crisis as they are closing to extinct. In fact, humans are the murderers of this disaster, superstition and greed are the main reason to cause this massacre.

Pangolins, the mammals covered in tough and overlapping scales, are actually far from aggressive. Their scales provide good defense against predators in wild. However, they’re considered the world’s most hunted animal because people believe that the meat is prized for medicinal ingredient and the scales help curl impotence.

At this moment, what I am wondering more is to let you firsthand it, holding and feeling the variation with actions. Enjoy and I believe you’ll like it.

Special thanks to Shinkong Synthetic Fibers Corp. for providing dedicated color materials (ABS) and supporting on this creation."

"Gaius Julius Caesar, one of the world’s greatest military leaders, was born into a senatorial, patrician family and was the nephew of another famous Roman general, Marius.

Did You Know? Unlike in the Shakespeare play, Caesar's last words were not "Et tu, Brute?" ("And you, Brutus?"). Instead they were reported as "You, too, my child?"

"This is the Iron Giant and Hogarth! It's perfect timing since he seems to be a decently big part of Ready Player One. But I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the original animation. I used to watch this with my brother all the time. And this scene is by far the most powerful for me. I hope you guys like it! :)

Fillamentum was the filament sponsor for this project. So thank you Fillamentum. Go check out their filament here: https://fillamentum.com/

After the parts were printed, we assembled them using a ton of glue and 2 part epoxy. And Chelsey painted Hogarth using acrylic paints."

A remix of the excellent little skull vase by garage. Made by @philnelson of extrafuture.com.

If you like this style, check out the Robosnake eyepatch.

My print of Kirbs' model was not very kid-proof: one of the links broke after some rough handling. Hence I made all links more robust. This means this model can probably be printed even smaller than the original ones before the links become too weak. Of course you can also scale it up at will.

If you want to make a dual extrusion print like this one from Adafruit, check out the remix by AndrewSink."

"Print module at 102% in order for the drawers to fit! Rafts are important for the drawers. Without the raft the drawer will have a square-ish bottom and you will need to sand it in order for it to fit in the module. Rafts are important for the module too. The tests I did without rafts produced a bad first layer.

Did you know SelfCAD has a serious which will teach you how to design this from start to finish. Click here to learn more.

My Settings: Print module at 102% Print drawer at 100% Shell Thickness: 1.2mm Printing Temperature: 208C Bed Temperature: 60C Time: about 5 hours 40 minutes"

You can either purchase double sided tape from any hardware stores or insert 2 quarters on the bottom to make it heavier.

Just print it out using your own or someone else's 3D Printer and tape it to the table. (No support is needed)

"This model was derived from Daniel Lilygreen model found here. I have changed his inside of the droid so that whenever pushed over or rolled, he will stand himself back up (like in the Starwars movie), making a very fun desktop toy. His head also rotates.

The BB8 Star Wars Droid is a fun little chap to roll around your desk and balance.

For me this was a fun experiment with physics, maybe you could take this inside structure of this object and create your own characters like him. The inside structure of him can be found as a separate object here."
